This Week’s Solution
In this game, you had to find the best continuation for white after the following moves:
- d4, c5
- dxc5, Qa5+
- Nc3, Qxc5
- e4, e5
- Nf3, d6?
- Nd5, Ne7?
The solution that we were looking for:
The winning move is 7. b4! (Not 7. Be3, when black can escape by running back home with 7… Qa5+! 8. b4, Qd8!)
7… Qc6 and now the coup de grace 8. Bb5!! pinning and winning the black queen, since if 8… Qxb5 9. Nc7+ forks the king and queen.
