Note that the bottom left corner of the board is ‘a1’. This set is less challenging than the last set of puzzles, but if you are struggling, revisit our previous puzzles and solution pages for tips on where to begin (you can find these in the blog). We prefer to receive answers in algebraic notation.
In this puzzle, the fifth in this intermediate set, it is black to move and white to checkmate next turn. Simply find all the moves for black this turn, and find the white checkmate as response. Try and complete these puzzles by visualising them in your head, and if it is too challenging, play the moves out on a chess board.
