In this puzzle, the fifth in this intermediate set, it is white to move and checkmate in two moves. Note that the bottom left corner of the board is ‘a1’. This set is even harder than the last set of puzzles, so if you are struggling, revisit our previous puzzles and solution pages for tips on where to begin (you can find these in the blog). We prefer to receive answers in algebraic notation.
